What's new?

Agworld 4.0 is on its way!!!

We’re excited to let you know that Agworld version 4.0 is due for release in July 2012.

One of the many features you will soon enjoy will be the ability to take all the complex data being loaded into the system and not only report on it but also turn it into meaningful summaries.

These ‘at your fingertip’ summaries will include rainfall, expenditure by hectare, budget versus actual, and expected yields, and they will undoubtedly increase your business decision making ability.

Agworld 4.0 – it’s about to make your farming business experience all the more efficient and enjoyable.

Adjusting Seasons With Ease

Making client specific changes to a season has become even easier thanks to Agworld’s find and replace feature.

The find and replace feature makes customisation of seasons extremely straightforward, enabling you to very quickly find and replace products and varieties as well as more efficiently adjust the prices and costs.  Furthermore, you can achieve all of this for individual paddocks and individual growers.

You can use the find and replace feature by going into a client’s plan and then locating the small grey F & R button (shown in the picture).

A new window will open up displaying a summary of the year’s plan.  Underneath this you will see a Criteria window where you engage the find and replace feature.

Let’s use locating a specific seed variety as an example.  Simply add the seed variety that you wish to find by clicking on the green ‘add seed’ button and typing and selecting the variety.

A Matches window will display the properties and paddocks that the seed variety is currently going to be used in.

From here you can select, via the checkbox, the paddocks you wish to make changes for.  Once you have typed in the required change, be it variety, rate or pricing you can click the green “replace” button on the right hand side of the screen.

The same process applies not only to varieties but all inputs and products as well.

Agworld’s find and replace feature, just one of the ways Agworld is making things easier for you.

I Can Find My Labels Where?

You may already be aware that the Agworld library is accessible through Agworld’s iPad app and that through the library you can easily search for and locate MSDS and labels.

Did you know that MSDS and labels are also easily located within a recommendation?

Simply open a recommendation from the app’s Activities page and click on the Products button in the top right hand corner of the screen.
You will then see a label icon and a MSDS icon where you can open up the required information.

There may also be times when you’re making a recommendation and you need to check the rate; all you need to do is add the product and tap the little (i) next to the specific input to view the label.

No need to switch apps or do a web search because the info is where you need it, when you need it and all with the tap of a finger!

And this is just one of the ways that Agworld is making things easier for you.

When She Ain’t All Apples

Agworld’s response to the Android tablet market stems from our pursuit of maintaining an exceptional standard along with an awareness of how easy it can be to spread oneself too thin.

Our perspective and response to the Apple/Android competition may be better understood by considering some figures pertaining to tablet sales overall.

You may be surprised to know that Apple have reportedly sold about 47 million iPad units since the first iPad model was released in 2010!

By the end of 2012 it is estimated by some that this figure will rise to around 63 million with Android tablet sales projected to reach around 40 million.

One study involving over 1600 business IT buyers is also telling when it comes to the more immediate iPad and Android tablet battle.  Of the 1600 IT buyers surveyed, 22% said they would be purchasing a tablet for their employees.  Of those, 84% confirmed they would be buying Apple’s tablet; iPad 3.

From Agworld’s perspective, especially as the nation’s leading agri-related IT platform developer, the present preference toward the iPad makes a lot of sense.

Agworld’s steady journey to maturity has stemmed from a commitment to stability and, as you can imagine, the less software and hardware combinations you attempt to engage, the more stable your platform will be.

We designed and released our revolutionary app for Apple’s iPad because it involves a single piece of software and only three pieces of hardware; specifically, iPad 1, 2 & 3.

Were we to begin configuring specific to the Android market, we would be required to design an app specific to 4 or 5 types of software and a pile of different devices.

We are watching with great interest how Samsung and Motorola, for example, further develop what are already impressive pieces of hardware.  We will continue to review the features and benefits they provide to our users in the field, and develop in line with those when they exceed or match what Apple are currently making available.
